Motorola Intrinsically Safe Radio Nationwide Free Inspection Campaign Officially Launched
In hazardous working environments, every clear instruction and every reliable communication can play an important role in protecting frontline personnel. As essential communication equipment carried and used by workers every day, Motorola intrinsically safe radios support critical communication across industrial operations. Their compliance, physical integrity, and operating condition are fundamental to maintaining reliable communications in hazardous environments.
Many Motorola intrinsically safe radios currently in service may appear to operate normally, while potential issues related to their internal condition and intrinsic safety performance remain difficult to identify through routine use alone.

An enclosure may appear intact while internal sealing components have hardened or cracked, potentially affecting the equipment’s intended intrinsic safety performance.
A radio may power on and support voice communication while its RF output power has significantly degraded, potentially preventing critical instructions from being transmitted effectively when they are needed most.
Intrinsic safety markings may have become unclear, or serial numbers and certification information may no longer be traceable, creating additional challenges for equipment compliance management and accountability.
These issues can remain hidden in everyday operation but may introduce significant uncertainty in safety-critical industrial environments.
Is the intrinsically safe radio you use every day still safe, compliant, and operating as intended?
New National Standard
Moving Inspection from Recommendation to Mandatory Compliance
On August 1, 2025, the mandatory national standard GB 3836.16-2024, Explosive Atmospheres — Part 16: Electrical Installations Inspection and Maintenance Specification, officially came into effect.
The standard establishes mandatory requirements for the inspection and maintenance of explosion-protected electrical equipment, further defining compliance requirements for communication equipment such as intrinsically safe radiosused in hazardous environments.
With the implementation of the new standard, many users now face increasingly important questions regarding intrinsically safe radios already in service:

Has equipment that has been used for many years developed hidden issues such as component aging or sealing deterioration?
Does its current condition continue to meet applicable mandatory national requirements?
The equipment may be used normally every day—but when was its last professional inspection, and can that inspection history still be traced?
If a radio has previously been repaired by a third-party service provider, was the repair organization appropriately qualified? Did the repair process affect the original intrinsic safety structure? And does the repaired equipment continue to meet applicable requirements?
These questions can create significant challenges for equipment compliance management and make potential risks more difficult to identify and address.
To help customers address these compliance and equipment safety concerns, respond to the requirements of the national standard, and strengthen long-term equipment management, Motorola Solutions (China) Co., Ltd. and Beijing Dynercomm Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd. have officially launched the Motorola Intrinsically Safe Radio Nationwide Free Inspection Campaign.
Through professional inspection capabilities and standardized technical services, the campaign aims to help customers better understand the condition of equipment currently in service and strengthen the foundation for reliable communications in hazardous environments.
