High Reliability, Seamless Coverage
The Leaky Feeder Communication System primarily consists of leaky feeder cables, base stations, repeaters, power dividers, and two-way radios.
A leaky feeder cable is a specially designed high-frequency cable with a partially open outer conductor featuring slots or a loosely braided structure. As radio signals from the base station travel through the cable, part of the signal radiates through these openings into the surrounding area, providing wireless coverage for two-way radios and extending radio communications into enclosed or signal-challenged environments.
Similarly, signals transmitted by two-way radios can couple through the outer conductor into the leaky feeder cable and be carried back through the communication system, enabling reliable two-way communications.
For longer transmission distances, repeaters can be installed along the tunnel or coverage route to amplify weakened signals and maintain reliable mobile communications throughout the required coverage area.
