Overview

The solution includes surface and underground wireless coverage.

Surface base stations are typically installed in communications rooms and connected to antennas mounted on towers or rooftops to provide reliable coverage across mining areas.

For underground environments, leaky feeder cables are used to transmit radio signals and reduce the impact of tunnel bends, pipelines, overhead cables, and other obstacles. In long tunnels, bidirectional repeaters are installed at intervals of approximately 350 meters to amplify uplink and downlink RF signals and compensate for transmission loss.

The leaky feeder acts as a continuous distributed antenna, enabling reliable two-way communication between mobile radios and between radios and base stations throughout underground areas.

The “leaky feeder + repeater” architecture is a mature and proven technology widely used in railway and highway tunnels.

Zijin Mining

For Zijin Mining’s Duobaoshan Mine, Dynercomm deployed a customized underground communication system using RF repeaters, signal distributors, leaky feeder cables, and an above-ground base station.

Existing radios were reprogrammed for split-frequency repeater operation, enabling real-time communication between underground work areas and the surface while improving operational efficiency and mine safety.
